Default Getting a glossy finish

I'm following Rosko Racer's instructions from my other post to get a nice glossy finish but I'm missing something, My local auto parts store only had 3M Perfect It so I tested it. It didn't seem to make my matte white enamel glossy. I didn't know if the 3M Finesse It would be a better choice but I'd have to get it on Amazon. (The gloss white was spitting globs and the matte went on much better.)

I thought I'd try Nu Finish to give it a gloss and that didn't seem to make it glossy either. So then I tried Future Floor Finish. It's glossier but it's not a great even finish.

I also got Scotch Brite 7408 Ultra padd but it makes a matte finish. I'm not sure how the Scotch Brite pad or wet sand paper would bring out a shine. Youtube makes it look so easy but I must be missing something. It seems that a polishing compound would be used after a finish like Nu Finish or Future. I haven't figured out when and how to apply the different compounds to get a mirror gloss finish.

I'd appreciate learning step by step instruction if possible.

The ONLY way I know of to turn a matte or flat finish glossy is to use gloss clearcoat.

Wet sanding and polishing compound.

Wet sanding makes the paint SMOOTH.

Polishing compound brings out the gloss.

After you get that, you can clear coat.

Wax on top of everything after the decals are on and maybe another clear coat.

Agreed. I often choose flat paints. There are just more colors available that I like (military colors primarily). If I have decals to apply, I add gloss clearcoat, add decals, then flat clearcoat to return to a flat sheen.
