Default Star Wars 'Original' X-Wing Model

Article on an original Star Wars - Episode IV A New Hope special effects X-Wing model "Red Leader", long thought to be lost, to go on auction with starting price of $400K.

The article says it is a 1:24 scale, so I am not sure 'in scale to what'...I guess in scale to the 'full size' X-Wings. Not certain, but I guess that would put it around the size of the Estes Maxi-Brute X-Wing kits, which were supposed to be the size used in filming the special effects. But, I think there were a handful of different sized models used in filming.

And we thought eBay prices could be high!

Kenner, had large models of the X Wing for display in Toys R Us and other toy stores.
Some how the one that was hanging from the ceiling of the Toys R Us store in Pembroke Pines Florida, just went missing one day ? It was never found, but there was a lot of roomer as to how
this heist was accomplished. I have no idea of what scale these models were but they where very well built and highly detailed.

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, AGITATION, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, AGGRAVATION, INSTIGATION, NUISANCE-ACTION, and HAVOC !

Model went for $3.1 million at auction yesterday. I don't think there is a pristine, shrink-wrapped Enerjet anything that would touch that.

I wouldn't give ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT of what that thing sold for.
Positively ABSURD.

So you don't have the savvy to recognize the investment value of an artifact like an original special effects model from the first Star Wars movie. We know that about you already.

The X-Wing from the Greg Jein auction sold this past weekend for $3.1 million. Presumably GH was not the purchaser: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/n...ion-1235618361/

In reference to an earlier post in this thread, the 1/24 scale of the hero and pyro miniatures used in production of the original trilogy was based on the fact that the pilots within were repurposed from aircraft and/or car models of that scale (don't recall which right now, too lazy to look it up).

On a tangential subject, my three-year-long Maxi Brute X-Wing project is approaching completion: https://www.rocketryforum.com/threa...fighter.159922/

I'd use another word or THREE, but keeping it "G" rated here.

Mine is still in the box. Think I can get 3.1 million for it?
