Kyle Newman built a pretty big Little Joe II replica and launched it at a SoAR event in Taylorsville, GA back in April. Check out his Facebook page:

I want to build a 1/12 scale Little Joe - using the MRC 1/12th Mercury Capsule plastic model kit for the capsule. But I've been unable to come up with an appropriately sized body tube to match the scale of the capsule.
I have built a couple of 1/12th Mercury Redstone rockets using that same plastic model kit - main body tube is a 5.5" Blue Tube which is a little undersized, but close enough that I'm the only one that'll notice . |

What powered that LJII in the April launch ?
Regardless, one should be able to do it wherever they pleez, without ANY sort of HP License. Should have access to through "P" sized motors without any sort of cert either.

If you're interested in building a 1/12 scale Little Joe, you might take a look at this thread on The Other Forum: https://www.rocketryforum.com/threa...mponent.130403/ If you'd like to see it fly you can go to the 18:30 point of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxdoJJZrUP4 James |

A little late to the thread, but I've been gone (as in, no rocketry) for 19 years. I'm starting to get interested in it again, but I'll probably never get as ambitious as I was when I made that 1/10 scale Little Joe II. Frankly, it was beyond my abilities as far as it flying. Had it survived all this time, it would have been a nice display model, despite some of the inaccuracies. Certainly a conversation starter. |
