Lacquer spray paint with enamel primer?
I went to Hobby Lobby to get some tools and bought some lacquer spray paint. I did research here on paints and understand issues with lacuer and enamel. I didn't buy lacquer primer (I didn't look for it). Is it okay to use my Krylon enamel primer?
I also read some posts about issues with lacquer running and clear overcoating. Can you help? |

Only use Lacquer Primer under a Lacquer Top Coat.... Follow this chart:

The chart shows that you can use an Enamel or Acrylic top coat over a Lacquer primer. That is correct, but you have to let the lacquer dry completely before adding the top coat. I think you meant to say not to use the lacquer top coat over the enamel base that the OP bought. You can't generally apply a lacquer top coat over an enamel or acrylic base coat. It works okay with some primers and paints, but not all. |

You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT use Lacquer or Dope topcoat over an Enamel primer.
You will get a swirled up "crazed" mess. Lacquer primer can be topcoated with ANYTHING. Lacquer primers are much easier sanding as well. Using ANY primer other than Lacquer makes about zero sense to me unless one is priming plastic.
