Get Axalta (former DuPont) lacquer automotive primer and shoot it from a detail spray gun or an airbrush.

Bob, I remember talking to John about the Krylon. I never ordered, since a case, with shipping, was quite expensive. I was also using the Rustoleum primer pictured, and was happy with its results. It dries fast, and I used to get it for $3.03 a can from Walmart.com. It was free delivery to the store, and often they would fill your order from stock they carried in Automotive. It became hard to get, so I started ordering from Amazon (free shipping too). But it’s now $7.88 a can. I looked at my order history and I bought it for the same price over a year ago, so at least it’s held at that price. To me, it has the same qualities as John described for the Krylon — it dries in minutes, and sands easily. You might want to try a can of it and see what you think. I have also used Duplicolor primer, but the last time I checked, it was over $15 a can. I refuse to pay that much.
