Leno has an unbelievable collection. I remember seeing a video piece with him when he acquired his 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint. Leno said he had been looking for a loooong time to find one.

My Dad had one and it was the first car I remember us having when I was a very little kid. It actually was a 1963.5 model with a small block V8 engine. We had that car for about 10 years before Dad got a VW bus for the (by then) larger family and he sold the Falcon. But, I think that little Falcon was one of Dad?s more favored vehicles and I recall a bit of sadness in Dad?s eyes when he sold it to some young guys down the road from us and they drove off in it.

As a child, my family had a '65 Falcon with a 289 with an Edelbrock intake and a 600 Holley double pumper.
Had an idiotic 3-on-the-tree manual transmission.
It would scoot pretty good but no where near as good as the other car which was a 68 Pontiac Ventura 428 with a tri-power 3x2bbl setup on it.
My parents traded the Falcon in on a 73 Pontiac Catalina with a 350 4bbl. That thing was a 175hp gutless pig.

Anyone ever watch the coverage of these?

Mecam car auctions

https://www.mecum.com/

The bids for truly collectable cars are huge, but there are some cars THAT I would have bid higher on.

There was, for instance, a super low miles, customized sixth generation (2015>) Mustang with an incredible light blue/silver metallic paint job with a hopped up engine in a beautifully done engine compartment and beautiful, tasteful wheels that at $31k didn't make the reserve, but they lifted the reserve!

That's just one example of many of cars that were STEALS that I've seen in Mecam auctions.

I have caught a couple of them. There are always some amazing cars. I just do not frequent the car channels, so I usually see them by accident if I am scrolling thru listings of shows.

The car you mentioned sounds like it could have been an amazing grab. Especially if you were thinking of spending about that much on something like good used Toyota Corolla. ;-)

There is NO SUCH THING as a "good" toyota ANYTHING.

GOOD for one thing only; straight from the production line to a demolition derby.

A YouTube channel that posts videos of the restored cars they offer, most not the very expensive.
