This is a re-release of this kit. There may be mods or changes, but the original Red Flare was basically a shortened version of the Maxi Alpha III. Almost bought a Red Flare when a local hobby shop closed, but I have a MAIII kit and an orginal balsa finned Maxi Alpha kit.

Ok, thanks Chas. I did not know it was a re-release. I had never noticed in the catalog(s) before.

I love the Optima design, though I prefer in its The Shadow livery. It has that classic Mike Dorffler look. I have built several mid-power clones of The Shadow using Aerotech parts.

I guess the Vulcan Centaur, in any version, didn't make it. Maybe Christmas of some other year. Or maybe, like some other scale projects that were promised, have turned to vaporware.

Pretty sure it will be VC6L

RTF. According to Estes, dual-D powered because it's heavy. (Like it's namesake).

Just realized those graphics don't match the real nomenclature. As of now, there is no "Heavy."

There are long and short fairings, so the the number is the number of solids, the "S" and "L" refer to the fairing. Some time next year we should have a shortened version of Centaur V. Not sure how that will change the naming convention.

The Cert-1 mission January and upcoming Cert-2 mission are both VC2S configs. The Estes model should be a VC6L.

Attached is an updated configurations image for the Vulcan Centaur showing both "S" and "L" versions.
