By the way, Jeff, I think the gray decals look fine.

Lee,

I asked them do to an upscale set of decals for the Orbital Transport that fit the Super Orbital Transport kit that Estes recently released (BT-55 main body tube) and they did a lovely set for me.

See you at NARAM next month?

The gray decals look very good. They definitely are a good substitute for the foil. I hardly miss the foil looking at them. Nice job!

Thanks! I have no problem at all with the gray decals either, especially of this quality.

Bernard, yes, I believe we will attend, but maybe just the weekend, and miss the week of competition. I really need to register and check out the schedule!

Great to hear you were pleased with the CMR upscale decals. Were the Estes decals just not that great? I have the kit but have not opened it yet.

Yes, I was wondering that myself. Was there something wrong with the kit?s decals or did you need something customized with the OT decal set?

We will be there for the full event flying sport on the first weekend and competition during the week. Remember the sport range is open all week, too.

The Estes decals were just fine.

My model crashed because of a next-to-nonexistent ejection charge on a C11-3. Estes sent me a new kit and motors, but I think I can repair the one I have with significantly less effort than building a whole new one. To do that I'd need part of another decal set, so I'd either need to rob the replacement kit or find another source (since one can't just order the decals from Estes these days).

That's when I turned to CMR to see what they could do. The set they created is a direct upscale of their regular OT set so it's just enough different that I can't just mix the two versions the way I want to for the expected upper body replacement. So the plan is to put the CMR set in the replacement kit and pull the Estes ones from it to facilitate repairs/refinishing.

Added: I need to channel my inner Commander Data and stop using contractions on this board, since they come out with question marks where the apostrophes should be.

Or, as Jeff has shown, I go back and edit the post after it is up to reinsert the apostrophes.

Hi Bernard,

Not exactly sure if this works for everybody, but if you go back and replace the question mark with an apostrophe, it may show up correctly after that. Try it, and see if it works. For example, here I am using the word, America's, as a test. Does the word, America's, appear with a question mark or with an apostrophe to you?

By the way, I signed up to attend the full week of NARAM-65 and I also volunteered for two sessions of sport range check-in duty as requested. My check-in partner will be Manning Butterworth on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons that week. Looking forward to seeing you and many others there!

Hi Jeffy,

Please pardon the thread deviation above. Great job on the scratch Estes K-58 Demon!

Kind regards,

On the first D12-5 or 7 flight, hook a Firefly hitchhiker glider on it.
Huge glide times and distance.
