Default Eclipse Day 2024

Well, not super-spectacular here in Georgia compared to the path of totality (I was in totality in 2017, nothing quite like that experience), but interesting nonetheless.

Not easy getting photos, but here is about what I got at around 3:08 eastern, which was peak time for us here.

Here in north Forth Worth, we had thick scattered clouds. My young bride (only 66) has MS and glaucoma. She fell last Monday, but used her walker to get to the back porch. Saw the early stages, but only about 1 minute of the 2:23 totality. With about 15 minutes left in the last part of the eclipse, the sky to the south cleared. Drat. Still, it was nice to share it with Cindy. Some folks over in Dallas, closer to the center line, got some great pics.

No lasting issues from the fall, I trust.

This isn't her first fall due to vertigo. Bought a car last April and hasn't driven in months and probably won't again. It is going to be a long recovery. So I am doing what I can to be her caregiver. Interupts my hobby... It is what we do.

Thanks for asking.

Chas

Here's my best one from Jackman Maine yesterday. Notice some solar flares, especially the big one at 7:00

I have family in Dallas (irving), so we flew up Friday and came back late last night. Luckily, the sky cleared by noon, only high thin clouds. So, I'm 2-for-2 on eclipse chasing, we saw the 2017 eclipse in Wyoming.

That's a great image! I got a decent total eclipse image in 2017 in South Carolina, but for the partial this year my photo luck was only so-so.

Thanks for posting!
